A rare and remarkable find, this pair of custom “Normandy” club chairs by Jean de Merry embodies artisanal craftsmanship at its finest. Handcrafted in the early 2000s at the now-closed Jean de Merry workshop in Los Angeles, these chairs were originally commissioned by a prominent gallerist and are no longer available to order.

The sculpted wood frames rest on walnut feet and feature hand-tied coil spring seats and arms—an old-world construction technique prized for its resilience and comfort. Wrapped in hand-distressed, tobacco-hued leather, each chair displays a richly aged patina that enhances its classic silhouette. A subtle row of nailhead trim along the back adds a refined architectural detail. The feather-down envelope seat cushions offer luxurious sink-in softness while maintaining their tailored form.
