Description:
An exceptionally sculptural pair of mid-century modern lounge chairs, unmarked and crafted in the style of Paul McCobb. Each chair combines a sinuous bent-rattan frame with a tightly woven reed seat and back, raised on slender black-painted tubular-steel legs ending in copper-toned ball feet. The broad, gently reclined form is genuinely comfortable while retaining an airy, architectural presence.

Doubled rattan arms sweep continuously around the body of each chair, punctuated by handwrapped joints and an expressive open framework. The contrast between the warmly patinated natural fibers and attenuated black steel captures the refined informality of postwar modern design—organic in material, disciplined in line.
Best suited to interior or protected covered-terrace use. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or direct outdoor weather.

Suggested Placement:
An inviting conversational pair for a sunroom, library, bedroom sitting area, or relaxed modern living room. Particularly effective against plaster, stone, or a saturated wall color, where the open weave and dark linear bases can register clearly.

Condition Report:
Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Both chairs are sturdy, comfortable, and ready to place. Minor finish loss is present on the black-painted steel frames. One chair has four localized areas of wicker loss, as photographed. Natural patina and subtle tonal variation throughout.
