Dimensions:
49″ H × 34.5″ W × 3″ D
Description:
A large decorative mirror featuring a faceted octagonal frame inset with panels of reverse-painted glass executed in the tradition of Italian verre églomisé. Rich vermilion and olive fields are adorned with scrolling gilt ornament and stylized floral motifs, creating a vibrant composition that functions as both decorative art and architectural mirror.
The segmented frame construction gives the piece sculptural depth, while the hand-painted ornament evokes Venetian decorative traditions frequently revived during the mid-20th century. Bold in scale and color, the mirror carries the theatrical character associated with Hollywood Regency interiors while remaining versatile enough for a wide range of layered, collected spaces.
Suggested Placement:
Ideal above a fireplace, console, or sideboard where its bold ornament can anchor a room. Its generous scale also works beautifully in an entry hall, powder room, or dramatic parlor interior.
Condition Report:
Very good vintage condition with minor scuffs and light surface wear consistent with age. Reverse-painted glass panels remain vibrant with small signs of handling visible upon close inspection. Minor loss of finish on frame. Structurally sound, wired and ready for installation.
