Description:
An ancient Mesopotamian terracotta vessel dating to approximately 600 BC, formed in warm red earthenware and distinguished by a gently tapering body and twin pierced lug handles. The compact scale and balanced proportions suggest utilitarian origins, likely for ritual, domestic, or votive use, while its refined silhouette reflects the enduring clarity of early Near Eastern ceramic traditions.

The surface bears a soft mineral encrustation and earthen patina consistent with age, lending quiet authority and archaeological presence. The pierced handles, integral to the vessel’s design, introduce both symmetry and function, reinforcing its sculptural character. Provenance from a Belgian collection assembled in the 1980s–1990s.

As with all ancient ceramics, this vessel should be handled with care. Intended for display only; not suitable for holding liquids.

Suggested Placement:
Ideal for display on a bookshelf, vitrine, or tabletop grouping with stone, bronze, or sculptural objects—equally compelling in a contemporary interior or a classically informed study.

Condition Report:
Very good condition with age-appropriate surface wear, mineral deposits, and patina. Structurally sound with no active cracks or restorations observed.
