Description:
A generously proportioned bergère-style armchair with a sculptural, branch-form carved wood frame and newly upholstered botanical textile in saturated sky blue, olive green, ivory, and touches of coral. Unmarked and likely dating from the late 20th century to the early 21st century, the chair balances a slightly whimsical naturalistic frame with the tailored presence of a traditional upholstered armchair.
The pale, softly rubbed wood is articulated with carved knots and cerused detailing, giving the frame an expressive, almost hand-drawn quality. Fresh upholstery brings a decidedly more contemporary point of view, with oversized palm fronds and tropical blooms playing against the warm wood. Nicely scaled and notably comfortable, it has enough visual personality to stand alone while remaining entirely functional.
Suggested Placement:
An expressive accent chair for a sunroom, bedroom, dressing room, coastal interior, or layered living space. Particularly effective against quieter architecture and natural materials, where the botanical upholstery can carry the room without overwhelming it.
Condition Report:
Very good vintage condition. Newly upholstered and ready to place. Light surface wear and minor age-related checking are present to the wood frame, consistent with age and adding character to the softly weathered finish.
