Dimensions:
85″ H × 53″ W × 24.5″ D
Description:
An early 19th-century French part-à-deux cupboard in bleached, cerused oak, its surface revealing a soft patina that enhances the grain’s natural depth. The composition features a harmonious balance of form: a tall upper cabinet with double paneled doors above a lower section of two drawers and a pair of smaller paneled doors. Subtle fluted columnar details frame each door, while carved bracket feet and scalloped aprons provide a gentle flourish.
The stripped oak finish imparts a refined rusticity, equally suited to traditional or contemporary interiors. Retaining its original brass key escutcheons and working lock with key, the piece is both practical and atmospheric. The upper and lower sections are joined by discreet metal brackets, ensuring stability.
Suggested Placement:
An ideal anchor for a dining room, housing serviceware and linens, or as a library statement piece with shelves dressed in books and curated objects. Also striking in an entryway or hallway for concealed storage.
Condition Report:
Excellent antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Surfaces show a warm, even patina with light, characterful variations in tone. Structurally sound and ready for use.
