Ancient cultures used proto-rings as a form of currency, and in this example you can see a split top design, which serves as both a form of adornment and to add extra weight to increase their value for exchange of goods. Circa 12BC - 8BC.
To preserve the beauty of your antique bronze jewelry:
- As with any fine jewelry, avoid exposure to water, chemicals, perfumes, and cosmetics, as these can cause discoloration or damage.
- If you have a sensitivity to copper, which is a component of most bronze alloys, consider having your local jeweler apply a clear jewelry sealant to protect your skin.
- Gently clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh cleaning solutions, as they can scratch or dull the surface.
- Store in a dry, cool place, preferably in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box, to prevent scratches and oxidation.
With proper care, your piece will continue to radiate its unique, timeless appeal.
