Dimensions:
1.25″ H × 2.5″ W × 2.25″ D
Weight: 0.84 troy oz. (approximately 26.1 grams)
Description:
An intriguing small Peruvian silver tasting cup incorporating historic silver Sol coins, including an 1890 coin fashioned into a distinctive thumb rest or handle. Its shallow, hand-worked bowl features a delicately patterned rim, irregular contours, and a richly developed patina that gives the piece an almost archaeological presence.
The vessel reflects a tradition of repurposing coinage into decorative and functional silver objects. Subtle variations in the surface, warm oxidation, and traces of earlier use lend considerable character to this diminutive piece. Silver tested; exact fineness and date of assembly have not been established.
From the Fifth Avenue estate of a distinguished author and humanitarian.
Suggested Placement:
An evocative accent for a curated bar, library shelf, or collection of antique silver and objets d'art. Particularly effective alongside ceramics, early metalwork, and other small objects with historical character.
Condition Report:
Antique condition with pronounced tarnish, surface wear, dents, and irregularities consistent with age and use. A small hole is present in the side of the bowl. Best suited for decorative display rather than holding liquids. The existing patina has been preserved.
