Description:
A finely cast ancient Roman bronze mirror, dating to c. the 2nd century AD, presented on iron display stand. The circular form retains its original concentric ring detailing along the rim, a restrained decorative feature characteristic of Roman utilitarian objects elevated through proportion and material rather than ornament. The surface is richly mottled with an earthy green and brown patina, punctuated by areas of blue mineralization that speak to centuries of burial and oxidation.

Roman bronze mirrors were objects of both daily ritual and symbolic significance, associated with grooming, reflection, and personal refinement. This example survives as a sculptural artifact rather than a reflective surface, its patina now functioning as a painterly field—quiet, abstract, and materially expressive.

Suggested Placement:
Ideal as a sculptural accent on a console or bookshelf, or incorporated into a vignette of ancient fragments and architectural objects.

Condition Report:

Good condition with extensive age-appropriate surface wear and oxidation. The bronze exhibits a stable, richly developed patina with areas of verdigris and mineral accretion consistent with age. Stand is secure.
