Dimensions:
13.75″ H × 10″ Diameter
Description:
A sculptural West German ceramic amphora vase dating to the 1970s, featuring a warm sand-toned glaze and a band of bold spiral relief decoration encircling the body. The vessel’s rounded form rises to a narrow neck with two small loop handles, giving the piece a distinctly architectural presence typical of the era’s studio-influenced ceramics.
The textured surface and subtle tonal variation in the glaze highlight the hand-worked character of the piece. Raised spiral motifs add a rhythmic visual movement around the vessel, while the slightly flared rim and compact foot provide a balanced silhouette. The base retains its original West Germany pottery mark.
Suggested Placement:
Ideal as a sculptural accent on a console, pedestal, or large coffee table. Its scale also works beautifully on a bookshelf or built-in where a single ceramic form can anchor a vignette.
Condition Report:
Excellent vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age. Glaze remains vibrant with no significant chips or structural issues observed.
Location & Shipping:
This piece is located in our Saugerties showroom. Viewing and pickup are available by appointment. Eligible for complimentary shipping via FedEx or UPS in the continental United States.
