Description:
A charming Mexican folk art pottery tray from Tlaquepaque, dating to the 1930s–1940s. Hand-painted on a warm terracotta-orange slip ground, the tray depicts a pastoral scene with a seated campesino figure amid agave, cactus, and native vegetation. The composition is framed by rhythmic blue and white border decoration characteristic of traditional Tlaquepaque pottery of the period.
The tray's appeal lies in its painterly simplicity and regional character. Rich earthen colors, hand-drawn details, and subtle variations in the glaze speak to its handmade origins. Equally suited as a decorative object or catchall, it brings a sense of warmth and vernacular craftsmanship to a shelf, tabletop, or cabinet display.

Suggested Placement:
Beautiful displayed on open shelving, atop a stack of books, or layered into a collection of folk art ceramics. Its warm palette also works particularly well in kitchens, breakfast rooms, and relaxed country interiors.

Condition Report:
Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Minor surface abrasions, glaze wear, and small manufacturing irregularities consistent with hand-crafted pottery of the period. No significant losses noted. Presents beautifully.
