Dimensions:

Description:
A rare and character-rich English joint stool, believed to date from the late 17th to early 18th century, crafted in elm. This early utilitarian form features a thick, irregularly shaped seat supported by splayed legs joined with a stretcher, expressing the quiet authority and honest construction of pre-industrial English furniture.
The stool retains a deeply worn surface with visible tool marks, softened edges, and a rich, naturally aged patina developed over centuries of use. The primitive joinery, asymmetrical seat shape, and compact proportions speak to its origins as a functional domestic object—likely used as seating, a candle stand, or a low table—now elevated as a sculptural accent for refined interiors.
Suggested Placement:
Ideal beside a fireplace, at the foot of a bed, or layered into a living room as an occasional stool or low table. Also compelling as a sculptural accent in a bathroom, library, or entryway vignette.
Condition Report:
Excellent antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Surface abrasions, edge softening, and variations in tone consistent with use. Structurally sound and stable.
