Description:
A compact and evocative Western Asiatic red clay animal figurine, likely depicting a stylized bovine form, characteristic of ancient Near Eastern zoomorphic abstraction. Modeled in warm terracotta with simplified anatomical features, the figure conveys both symbolic presence and sculptural restraint, hallmarks of early ritual and domestic objects from the Luristan region and surrounding areas.
The surface retains a dry, earthen patina with subtle variations in tone and texture, reflecting centuries of burial and age. The exaggerated head and abbreviated body suggest an object conceived less as naturalistic representation and more as an emblematic form—imbued with cultural and symbolic meaning. The figure is presented on a discreet custom metal mount with a solid wood base, allowing it to be appreciated as an autonomous sculptural object.
Suggested Placement:
Ideal for a bookshelf, vitrine, or desk, where its modest scale and archaeological presence add quiet authority to a layered interior. Particularly effective when grouped with bronzes, fragments, or stone objects for a collected composition.
Condition Report:
Excellent condition with expected surface wear, minor losses, and earthen encrustation consistent with age. Structurally stable. Mount is modern.
