Tall, sculptural backs terminate in rounded ball finials, lending the chairs an almost ceremonial quality, while their compact proportions make them remarkably versatile.

Constructed with substantial cylindrical oak posts, broad horizontal backrests, and a rhythmic arrangement of stretchers, the chairs balance visual strength with an open, airy silhouette. Handwoven natural rush seats introduce warmth and texture, complementing the honey-toned oak frames. Their distinctive design recalls the vernacular influences explored by Vico Magistretti and other European modernists of the period.

Suggested Placement:
Ideal as a distinctive pair of occasional chairs flanking a console, in a breakfast nook, or at a small dining table. Particularly compelling against restrained contemporary architecture, where their sculptural profiles and natural materials can take center stage.

Condition Report:
Very good vintage condition with minor age-appropriate surface wear, scuffs, and scratches. The oak frames have received selective stain touch-ups to unify the finish while retaining their natural character. Woven rush seats show age-consistent variation and wear.

https://catchmewhenyoucan.com/products/pair-of-1970s-brutalist-oak-and-rush-dining-chairs-in-the-style-of-vico-magistretti
